I didn't know love well
Our paths never crossed
We never dated
No smudged kisses
No good nights
Our thoughts were of others
Occasional drunken glances
Lonely last resort chances
I didn't know love well
We were both alone
Common friends and faces
Glasses of wine in places
Shallow exchanges
Hollow and polite
No turning out the light
I didn't know love well
No letters posted
No waiting by the phone
No missing you no missing me
No lingering chemistry
I could see the beauty, the allure
But didn't long for more
All that is left is to pray
For we are strangers to this day
